When Ellen Ryan’s Hotel Victoria first opened its doors for business on September 8, 1890, it instantly earned a place as one of Darwin’s (then Palmerston’s) best known and well-loved social landmarks. More than a century later the imposing restored stone building still stands as a monument to the Territory’s pioneering spirit and the colourful people who helped develop that spirit.
